Mid-Week Activities.

North Tyneside Music offers a wide range of musical activities for young musicians of all ages and standards.

Our groups meet weekly in term-time. All opportunities are fully funded and free of charge to families. Whatever style of music you are into, we have something for you.

Our mid-week activities include Emerging Artists, Youth Choir, Music Theory, Rock School and our Sounding Out Project.

Our mid-week activities are open to all young people aged 5-18 who live or attend school in North Tyneside.

Emerging Artists

Day: Wednesday

Emerging Artists is designed for young people aged 11–18. The project develops a wide range of performance skills, helping young musicians build confidence, creativity and stage presence. It is particularly suited to those already developing their musical journey as vocalists, guitarists or keyboard players.

North Tyneside Youth Choir

Day: Wednesday

North Tyneside Youth Choir is suitable for any young person aged 11-18 who would like to come together on a weekly basis to sing with others. The group performs together at events and concerts around the region.

Music Theory for Emerging Musicians

Music Theory for Emerging Musicians is suitable for emerging musicians seeking todevelop and explore their understanding of music theory. Sessions will cover key concepts of music theory, particularly useful for those studying music at either GCSE, BTEC or A Level.

Sounding Out!

Day: Wednesday Time: 5.00-7.00pm Group Leaders: Ashleigh Lowes

Sounding Out! offers young people aged 11-18 the opportunity to take part in a variety of musical activities and opportunities with no experience required. This project is supported by our partner charity, mo4y. Email  ashleigh.lowes@youngsounds.org.uk for further information.

Rock School

Day: Friday
Time:
5.30-7.15pm/7.15-9.00pm Group Leader: Traxx Rehearsal Studios

Our Rock School runs on Fridays in term-time and offers young musicians who play guitar, bass, drums or sing the opportunity to forms bands with others. Rock School bands perform at gigs throughout the year at different venues across the region. There are two sessions designed to support young musicians at different stages of their musical journey.

North Tyneside Steel Band

North Tyneside Steel Band offers sessions for young people on a Wednesday evening at Collingwood Primary School, North Shields.
