North-East Music Hub Celebrates a Successful Year in 2025-6
2025-6 was a landmark year for the North-East Music Hub as it continues to expand high-quality music education opportunities for children and young people across Durham, Darlington, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside and Sunderland.
Working in partnership with schools, arts organisations and community groups, the Hub delivered a wide range of programmes designed to increase participation, support progression and ensure access to music for all young people. Key highlights included the Mini Mercury Choir’s participation in the Mercury Music Awards Fringe Festival and the celebratory North-East Festival of Youth Choirs.
Another key achievement this year was the Hub's growing programme of continuing professional development. Teachers and music educators benefitted from a series of training events covering areas such as singing, curriculum development, music technology and inclusive practice. The Hub also hosted its first regional Workforce CPD Day, bringing together music professionals from across the North East to share ideas, develop skills and strengthen partnerships.
As the North East Music Hub continues to grow, its success in 2025-26 highlights the power of collaboration in creating inspiring musical opportunities and helping the next generation of musicians thrive.
We look forward to continuing our work as part of this vibrant partnership!
